little_boy_playing_game.jpgOn Friday March 6, the Home and School Association hosted Game Night and it was a rousing success. The cafeteria was filled with children and their families while the upper grades 6,7, and 8 discovered the intricacies of Picket's Charge during the Battle of Gettysburg in the Civil War.

Candyland, Monopoly, Twister, Don't Break the Ice, and many more games were played while the kids and their families talked and laughed. There was a movie playing too.

Because of the success of this event, there is another in the planning stages so if anyone has any ideas, please call or email

Grades 6/7/8 game description:

We did "Pickets Charge" from the game. Without planning it the "girls"  ended up commanding the North with Belle as "General Meade" and the "boys" were the South with Ryan as "Lee".

They were evenly matched losing units one for one until it came down to the final shot and the girls got the last shot in. Game ran usual length of about just under an hour. The kids were fantastic and picked it up quick.

So we set it up and played it again only with them switching sides, and the girls kicked butt AGAIN. Only this time they did it faster. The South won Gettysburg!
